World Landscape Architecture Month, established by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) is observed during the month of April.
It is a month-long international celebration of landscape architecture for public and private spaces.

This year the theme is “ growing together” – it aims to highlight how landscape architecture promotes and facilitates people growing together with each other & with nature.
All landscape proposals follow most if not all the following principles of Landscape design:
SIMPLICITY
Prioritizing importance of proposed elements to keep the design clean and uncluttered. Simple designs are also the most functional.
UNITY
Making sure that everything works together by using inter connections such as paths, walkways, stairs and fences to physically link areas.
BALANCE
Balancing the visual weight of the design by symmetry or asymmetry, colors and scale of elements.
EMPHASIS
Bringing focus on accent areas with key plants and features using textures, colors and form to build interest.
PROPORTION
It refers to the size of an object in relation to another object in the same area. For example a good proportion between plants, softscapes and hardscapes is necessary for a well-balanced design.
RHYTHM
Using repeated elements in such a way to create a sense of movement and unity. It is also brought about by harmonious layout of the landscape, scale of plants and merging of hardscapes and softscapes.
REPETITION
Repetition is used to make predictable and familiar patterns and sequences in the landscape. To achieve this, landscape design elements or specific features is usually repeated throughout the space.
